ITV Studios to distribute Chinese singing format
ITV Studios Global Entertainment has for the first time signed up distribution rights to a Chinese format.
The ITV global sales arm will sell primetime entertainment series Sing My Song and claims it is the first time a Chinese talent show format has been exported internationally.
The talent-based music show launched this year on CCTV-3, reaching 480 million viewers over the series, according to ITVSGE.
“This deal is a fantastic example of the benefits of a British-Chinese creative partnership,” said ITV Studios’ director, international formats, Mike Beale. “As a leading TV distributor, ITVS GE has a wealth of experience of distributing some of the world’s most popular TV formats to territories around the globe.
Michel Rodrigue, CEO and partner, The Format People, consulted on the deal between ITV Studios Global Entertainment and IP owner Star China.
“We entrust Mike and the ITVSGE team to take Sing My Song to all territories and are positive the international buyers will discover as much success in their region with the format as we enjoy in China,” added Star China’s chief representative and VP, Starry Production, Vivian Yin.
