Sony commissions first Playstation original drama
Sony’s Playstation Network has moved into original drama with an adaptation of comic book Powers.
The series, which will be titled the same as Brian Michael Bendis and Michael Avon Oeming comics, means Playstation is latest OTT player to move into original drama commissioning after the likes of Netflix, Amazon and rival video game service Xbox Live.
Powers will be a 10-episode one-hour series set in a violent world in which a detective investigates “God-like” superheroes. Charlie Huston wrote the pilot, which Sony Pictures Television producing.
Bendis, Oeming and Michael Dinner produce, while with Huston and Remi Aubuchon with serve as executive producers alongside Circle of Confusion’s David Engel, David Alpert and Lawrence Mattis.
