BermanBraun becomes Whalerock as TV chief exits
US producer BermanBraun has rebranded as Whalerock Industries and restructured its film and TV divisions following the departure of one of the founders.
Gail Berman exited the company in January, as TBI reported at the time, and remaining company co-founder Lloyd Braun has now reorangised the 150-person company. This will see television president Gene Stein exiting.
As part of the restructure, the newly-named Whalerock has combined its small and big screen units into one division, with Andrew Mittman becoming president of the combined team. Mittman has lead the film unit since 2009.
Jenna Glazier, meanwhile, has been promoted to senior VP, film and television, and will oversee Whalerock’s existing first-look TV deal with MGM, which Stein previously covered.
“I want to thank Gene for his dedication, hard work and commitment to excellence. He is an outstanding executive and wonderful human being. We wish him continued happiness and success,” stated Braun.
“This reorganisation reflects our approach to development throughout the company,” said Braun. “The traditional lines between media are increasingly blurred – particularly in film and television. Our executives will work the same way – evaluating material, developing relationships and understanding business models across the media landscape.”
