NBC greenlights full A.D. series
US broadcast network has given the greenlight to a 12-episode run of The Bible follow up A.D.
Survivor producer Mark Burnett and his wife Roma Downey will produce the series through their LightWorkers Media imprint, with Richard Bedser also executive producing.
The show, which NBC announced earlier this year, will “most likely air in spring 2015”, according to the broadcaster.
The series caused a stir upon its unveiling as cable channel History had run The Bible and scored huge ratings, prompting NBC Entertainment chairman to say: “The day after The Bible premiered, I told Mark we were on board with no hesitation for the follow-up miniseries”.
In related news, Burnett is launching a UK joint venture with Red Arrow Entertainment-owned CPL Productions through his other production company, One Three Media.
