Entertainment One to sell AMC scripted shows
Producer and distributor Entertainment One has agreed a distribution deal with AMC Networks and will sell content from the AMC and Sundance Channel internationally.
The deal covers upcoming titles only. Distribution of AMC’s current roster of scripted series is tied up with, for example, Lionsgate selling Mad Men, Sony Pictures Television Breaking Bad and Endemol Low Winter Sun. UK-listed eOne shares distribution duties on The Walking Dead with Fox and Hell on Wheels with Endemol.
The new agreement only covers drama. Endemol Worldwide Distribution recently struck a deal to sell AMC’s unscripted programming, picking up international rights to shows including Small Town Security, Freakshow and Comic Book Men.
Sundance Channel Global, the international arm of AMC Networks, will carry some eOne shows on its networks, the companies said without specifying any titles.
The news had almost no impact on eOne’s share price, which moved less than 1% in the wake of the news being released.
