Conde leaves Univision for NBCU

Cesar Conde has resigned as president of the Networks division of US Hispanic broadcaster Univision and taken a role at NBCUniversal, which owns rival Telemundo.

Conde has been instrumental in launching English-language services at Univision, which is predominantly a Spanish-language service. There is now an English-language news service run in conjunction with ABC, Fusion, and catch-up service UVideos is also available in English.

At Telemundo he will be executive VP and report directly to NBCU boss Steve Burke.

He will not run Telemundo with another ex-Univision executive, Joe Uva, continuing in that role.

Conde will work on business development and strategy across the NBCU portfolio of channels and services.

“Cesar is an impressive business executive with both traditional and emerging media expertise,” said Burke. “His experience leading multiple domestic and international businesses will be instrumental in maximising all the opportunities to grow our portfolio.”

Conde’s departure sparked several changes at Univision with Alberto Ciurana, president of programming and content; Isaac Lee, president of news; and Juan Carlos Rodriquez, president of Univision Deportes now reporting directly to CEO Randy Falco.
