Under the Dome breaks out with 200 int’l deals
Under the Dome, the CBS miniseries based on the Stephen King novel of the same name, has now licenced in more than 200 territories, its distributor has revealed.
CBS Studios International named Germany’s ProSiebenSat.1, France’s M6, Italy’s Rai Due and Australia’s Network Ten among the buyers. They join the previously announced deals with Canada’s Global Channel and the UK’s Channel 5. Airdates will vary by territory. It launches in the US on June 24.
The show comes from CBS Studios Television and Stephen Spielberg’s Amblin Television and tells the story of a town that is suddenly and inexplicably sealed off from the world under a giant, transparent dome.
It caught buzz at this year’s LA Screenings as one of a number of uncharacteristically high concept dramas for leading US net CBS.
“Under the Dome is a unique television event with tremendous creative auspices that is generating a lot of excitement in the US and abroad,” said Armando Nuñez, president and CEO, CBS Global Distribution Group. “We’re thrilled to have some of the top broadcasters around the world as partners for the international launch of this series.”
