Red Arrow buys Mob Wives producer
Red Arrow Entertainment has acquired control of Left/Right, the New York-based indie producer behind Mob Wives.
The production company was created by Banks Tarver and Ken Druckerman, who will remain at the helm.
Red Arrow, which is a ProSiebenSat.1 company, has been actively acquiring production companies around the globe and already has a US production interest in Kinetic Content, the producer run by Chris Coelen. Red Arrow said the Left/Right deal will drive its distribution business by giving it access to a raft of US formats.
Left/Right produces numerous shows for US cable networks. As well as VH1’s Mob Wives, it makes series including This American Life for Showtime and Small Town Security for AMC.
Financial details of the Left/Right deal were not disclosed.
Jan Frouman, group managing director of Red Arrow, said: “This is a really significant and exciting step for us. Not only have Ken and Banks proven themselves to be a ‘rock-star’ team – but we are also dramatically expanding our presence in the US. The deal has all the elements we prioritise: great people, a key territory, a stellar track record, and a strong group fit.”
Banks Tarver, founder and co-president of Left/Right, said: “We are thrilled to join forces with Red Arrow, as it allows us to ‘globalize’ our approach to the television marketplace, and to develop and produce new ideas and formats from around the world.”
Tarver added that the Red Arrow deal will help the producer move into scripted TV. He said: “The partnership will strengthen our core unscripted television business, while presenting us with a platform to develop new opportunities in scripted television and other new areas as well.”
