Nicktoons revamping Voltron
US kids broadcaster Nicktoon is to revamp classic kids cartoon Voltron after striking a deal with rights holders World Event Productions and distributor Classic Media.
This is the latest revamp of a hit kids series after Cartoon Network announced that it was remaking Thundercats, and it comes as the show celebrates its 25th anniversary.
The series is set to air in 2011.
The new version of Voltron will be produced by US production company Kickstart Productions, which was produced Hollywood features including Wanted and animated series such as Wolverine and the X-Men, and will be distributed internationally by Classic Media.
The action robot series tells the story of five space explorers who pilot robot lions that combine to form Voltron, whose goal is to defend the universe from evil.
Mattel is also developing a new line of toys based on the property.
