Fox making Heathers TV remake
US network Fox is set to launch a TV remake of popular ’80s movie Heathers after striking a deal with Sony Pictures Television and Lakeshore Entertainment.
The broadcaster is developing a modern day reversioning of the movie, which starred Christian Slater and Winona Ryder as a pair of rebels that killed off the mean girls at school and made it appear to be suicide.
Mark Rizzo, who has a deal with Sony Pictures Television and has produced pilots including Zip for NBC, is writing the remake with Jenny Bicks, who has worked on Sex and the City. Lakeshore Entertainment holds the rights to the original movie and agreed to look at the remake.
The project is currently in the development stage at the News Corp-owned network.
