Canadian talent agency Vanguarde Artists Management is moving into production with the launch of a new content label, Vanguarde Pictures.

The new label will focus on developing scripted content for broadcast, cable and streaming services, as well as podcasts.

Its first senior appointment is screenwriter and showrunner Adam Pettle, who created the Corus/NBC medical drama series Nurses, and worked on legal show Burden Of Truth for CBC and The CW and supernatural medical drama Saving Hope for Bell Media.

Pettle will serve as an executive producer, alongside Vanguarde Artists Management founders Tina and Jay Horwitz.

“This is a very natural progression for Adam and for us collectively,” said Tina Horwitz. “We’re lucky to have had some very rewarding relationships working with clients as producers and we look forward to giving these efforts more oxygen.”

Pettle added: “I’m inspired by the leadership and commitment that Tina and Jay continue to show me and the Canadian creative community. I’m grateful to be working with such soulful and smart folks, and I’m humbled to have their continuing support as incredible advocates and collaborators in Vanguarde Pictures.”
