‘Heartstopper’ prodco See-Saw hires quartet including Pulse Films & Carnival execs

Slow Horses and Heartstopper producer See-Saw Films has landed four execs from companies including Pulse Films and Carnival Film & Television to bolster its senior exec ranks.

Moss Barclay and Julian Stevens join as executive producers for TV, alongside Ann Phillips who is also becoming head of development for film. Laura Mazzola has been named senior business & legal affairs executive. All four will work out of See-Saw’s London office.

Barclay joins from Pulse, where she led the company’s expansion into scripted film and TV, developing Gangs Of London for Sky and AMC, having had spells at Sixteen Films, Big Talk Pictures and Working Title Films.

Stevens has been behind co-productions including The Tunnel: Sabotage for Sky Atlantic and Canal+ in France, The Missing for BBC One and Starz, and Informer for BBC One and Amazon. He will be working across Slow Horses for Apple TV+ as well as building his own slate of projects.

Phillips joins from Ray Pictures, where she was head of development across film and TV, developing projects with talent including Rita Kalnejais, Daniel Kaluuya, Kristen Roupenian, Sarah Solemani and Edward Berger. Prior to that, she worked as development executive at House Productions.

Mazzola was most recently responsible for legal & business affairs for scripted TV and film at NBCUniversal-owned Carnival, where she worked on shows such as theatrical feature Downton Abbey: A New Era, two seasons of The Last Kingdom for Netflix and Belgravia for Epix and ITV.

See-Saw MD’s, Iain Canning and Emile Sherman, said the quartet “each brings their own expertise and experience at an exciting time for See-Saw with the continued expansion of our TV division, across premium returning and limited drama.”

Helen Gregory, who became creative director after joining from Channel 4 last year, added that the execs would assist See-Saw “to further build our slate of distinctive, relevant, entertaining drama.”
