Netflix’s Sarandos, Amazon’s Brown set for Series Mania

Netflix chief content officer Ted Sarandos and Amazon Studios’ European originals boss Georgia Brown are heading to Series Mania as part of the French festival’s ‘Lille Transatlantic Dialogues’ programme.

The day-long 27 March event is billed as a bilateral summit between the European Union and the US, uniting political decision makers with leading industry execs to discuss and debate the overlapping issues between the two arenas.

In addition to Sarandos and Brown, other participants include the following:

  • Nicolas de Tavernost, Chairman of the Executive Board & CEO, M6 Group, FR
  • Charles Rivkin, Chairman and CEO, MPAA, USA
  • Lorenzo De Maio, Head of TV Advisory and Partner, Endeavor Content, US
  • Gilles Pélisson, CEO, TF1 Group, FR
  • Delphine Ernotte-Cunci, CEO, France Télévisions, FR
  • Franck Riester, Minister of Culture, FR

French consultancy Eurodata will open the day with a presentation, followed by keynotes from Sarandos, De Tavernost and Charles Rivkin. Meanwhile, a panel will discuss the relations between writers and platforms, which is a major issue in Europe linked with the copyright directive.

There will also be keynotes by De Maio, Brown and Pélisson; a round table organised in partnership with the European Film Forum that will bring together key international companies, including ITV Studios, Fremantle and Beta Film; and a keynote from Ernotte-Cunci and closing address from Riester.

Lille Transatlantic Dialogues is a joint initiative between Series Mania, the French Centre national du cinéma et de l’image animée (CNC) and the EU’s Europe Creative Media programme, in collaboration with Hauts-de-France Region.

Series Mania founder and general director Laurence Herszberg said: “We are honoured to be welcoming our distinguished list of speakers for this year’s event further consolidating the status of Lille Transatlantic Dialogues as a key summit for US-Europe relationships in the series industry.

“Lille Transatlantic Dialogues has become the strategic meeting place for political decision-makers and A-list executives whose goal is to shape the landscape and strengthen the collaboration between the US and Europe in this ever-changing global marketplace.”
