Cartoon Network readies new theme parks

Turner is opening a Cartoon Network-branded theme park in the Middle East. Cartoon Network Enterprises has joined forces with Future Kid & Real Estate Company and will open a 3,500 foot indoor theme park in Kuwait City this year.

The park will be Cartoon Network’s first in the Europe, Middle East and Africa region and will have games and rides based on Cartoon Network characters. Alan Fenwick, vice president, Cartoon Network Enterprises for the EMEA region said this deal was the first in its long term theme park strategy.

Disney already operates several high-profile theme parks and last year Viacom-backed Nickelodeon said it would launch several branded hotels and water parks in association with hotel chain Marriot and property firm Miller Global.

Hit Entertainment also plans to open a ThomasLand a Drayton manor in the UK this spring.
