News brief: Spike options Tutankhamun miniseries from Muse

US cable net Spike has taken an option on Tut, a miniseries about ancient Egyptian ruler Tutankhamun.

The potential six-parter was brought to Spike by Canadian producer Muse Entertainment (Bomb Girls).

Muse’s Joel S. Rice and Michael Prupas will exec produce the series if greenlit, alongside Greg Gugliotta (The Fosters). The writing team includes Michael Vickerman (Impact).

If ordered, Tut will, the producers said “be a ground-breaking, six-part, action-packed series combining the drama of power, political backstabbing, war and murder”.
