Netflix ups Nuha El Tayeb to oversee Arabic content slate
Netflix has promoted long-serving exec Nuha El Tayeb to oversee all Arabic content for the streamer, following the exit of Ahmed Sharkawi.
Joining Netflix in 2018, El Tayeb was promoted to her current role as content director for the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) and Turkey in December 2019.
El Tayeb spent two years as director of acquisitions at Egyptian broadcaster CBC before joining Netflix and previously served as a senior manager for Arabic channels at OSN.
Sharkawi joined Netflix in 2019, with his departure after five years as director of Arabic content, development, first reported by C21 earlier this week. Under his leadership, Netflix built out an Arabic slate including Paranormal, Abla Fahita, AlRawabi School fDr Girls and Crashing Eid.
El Tayeb will expand her role to encompass his remit, overseeing the entire Arabic slate, across acquisitions and commissions for both series and films, scripted and unscripted, with Deadline first reporting her promotion.
