ITV extends ‘The 1% Club’ quiz format for two further seasons
UK commercial broadcaster ITV has extended quiz format The 1% Club for two further seasons.
Produced by Magnum Media, the show’s third series is currently airing on Saturday nights on ITV1, and will now return for a fourth and a fifth run, with each new series also including a Christmas special.
Presented by comedian Lee Mack, The 1% Club sees 100 contestants begin every show – but to make it to the end and win the top prize of up to £100,000, contestants must correctly answer a question only 1% of the country would get right.
A recent episode on 24 February attracted the show’s biggest audience with over 5.3 million viewers. This current third series is ITV’s second biggest entertainment series of the year, behind Saturday Night Takeaway.
Distributed by BBC Studos, the format has been sold to 10 territories across the world, with recent deals including to Mexican broadcast group TV Azteca, and other sales including to Australia, Germany, France and Spain.
Earlier this week, US network Fox struck a deal with Amazon’s Prime Video to secure rights to the streamer’s upcoming version of the format.
