Netflix has ordered a second season of Berlin, its spin-off from hit Spanish series La Casa De Papel (aka Money Heist).

The show was created by Álex Pina, who was behind the original La Casa De Papel, and Esther Martínez Lobato, with filming slated for 2025.

The series is named after the code name of La Casa De Papel character Andrés de Fonollosa (Pedro Alonso) and its first season is ranked at number nine among the most-watched non-English language series on Netflix.

Pina’s Vancouver Media is again attached to produce, with the show adding to the prodco’s slate that has included The Pier, White Lines Sky Rojo and El Refugio Atómico (aka The Fallout Shelter).

Pina told TBI last year that Berlin offered a notable shift from La Casa De Papel, including more comedic elements.

“We have changed the genre, we have changed the tone, we have raised the series’ comedy side by several notches and we have conceived a different universe and DNA – so it is important to see how the viewers react.”
