Rubicon Global partners with Latin Grammy-winner Eladio Carrión for scripted comedy
Rubicon Global Media, the nascent Spanish-language-focused firm launched by former Legendary Television president Chris Albrecht and Pongalo founder Jorge Granier, has partnered with singer Eladio Carrión to develop a new multilingual comedic series.
The series will draw inspiration from Carrión’s own life, sharing the journey of an American teenager who finds himself uprooted to Puerto Rico from the United States. Navigating the challenges of adapting to a new culture and language, the series will be a blend of bi-cultural humor, heart, and cultural exploration, said Rubicon.
Carrión, who won a Latin Grammy this year for his song Coco Chanel, said: “This project will start a new era of my career, opening the door to film and television, something I’ve been passionate about since I was a kid.”
“Eladio is a tremendous talent, and we look forward to developing this show as we continue to create story driven content with global appeal,” added Albrecht and Granier.
The deal with Carrión comes just a month after Rubicon struck a development deal with Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson to produce a series focused on Hispanic characters. The firm, which launched in August, plans to produce “story-driven” content for Latin American audiences by aggregating IP from Lat Am and Spain that it can market internationally.
