CJ ENM Hong Kong takes pay-TV rights to seven Korean titles from Paramount
CJ ENM Hong Kong has secured exclusive pay-TV rights to seven Korean series for parts of Southeast Asia, after striking a deal with Paramount Global Content Distribution.
TVN and TVN Movies have the first window in territories including Malaysia, Indonesia, the Philippines and Singapore.
The deal covers both series and films and includes the drama A Bloody Lucky Day, starring Yoo Yeon-seok, Lee Sung-min and Lee Jung-eun. The series will be separated into two parts, with the first half to premiere on 2 December on TVN and part two premiering in Korea on 8 December and TVN on 9 December.
TVN Movies, meanwhile, has picked up the thriller series Bargain, a remake of the 2015 Korean short film of the same title, for launch in January 2024, with Yonder, a “romantic journey to a parallel world” to land the same month.
The four other dramas range from thriller to period and narrative and are slated for release in 2024, with details on these titles to be announced at a later date, said CJ ENM.
All the shows were co-financed by CJ ENM’s streaming platform TVING and Paramount+ as part of the global partnership formed between the two companies in December 2021. They will be debuting on TVING in South Korea and on Paramount+ in the US, Canada, UK, Australia, Latin America, Brazil, Italy, France, Germany, Switzerland and Austria.
Managing Director of CJ ENM Hong Kong, Michael Jung, said: “Korean content continues to outperform itself and remain top choice for our audiences with unmatched creativity and global appeal.”
