Factual round-up: RMC Découverte digs up the Inca; Bomanbridge strikes doc deals; Nat Geo US acquires ‘For The Love Of Pets’
RMC Découverte digs up the Inca
French broadcaster RMC Découverte has commissioned Pernel Media to produce a new four-episode documentary series, Rise And Fall Of The Inca.
The show, which will be a 4 x 60-minute series for the French market and a 4 x 44-minutes for international, delves into the origins and the fall of the largest pre-Columbian empire, thanks to exclusive access to various international excavations. The production is due to deliver in the first quarter of 2025.
Céline Payot Lehmann, who produces alongside Samuel Kissous, commented: “Thanks to the latest innovations, archeology is so much more visually impressive, scientists can make conclusions much faster and make the stones speak. The adventure of the archeology mixed with state of the art CGI to bring back ancient worlds to life makes very good television”.
Bomanbridge strikes doc deals
Singapore-based distributor Bomanbridge Media has struck a slew of factual deals ahead of ATF, including an 11-hour package with Warner Bros. Discovery for its Discovery Asia channel in Southeast Asia, Mongolia, Hong Kong and Taiwan.
The package includes My Childhood, My Country: 20 Years in Afghanistan (1 x 60-minutes), two-parter In Search of the Snow Leopards – Chasing Shadows and Urak Lawoi: Brothers of the Sea (1 x 60-minutes).
KBS in South Korea has also picked up a handful of nature titles, including The Hummingbird Effect (1 x 60-minutes), together with The View From On High (1 x 60-minutes) and Thailand’s Wild Cats (1 x 60-minutes).
Further deals were struck with Thailand’s TPBS and PTS, and NHK Enterprises in Japan, as well as GMA in the Phillippines, Mediacorp in Singapore and TVB and PCCW in Hong Kong.
Nat Geo US acquires ‘For The Love Of Pets’
National Geographic in the US, TVNZ in New Zealand and Truevisions Thailand have all acquired Context Media’s series For The Love Of Pets following deals with distributor Escapade Media.
Hosted by actor Jai Courtney, the show follows pet adoptions, surgeries and the people who do it all, with these deals following the launch of the second season on Nine Network in Australia last week and a previous sale to Channel 5 in the UK.
