Saffron Cherry to adapt audio sitcom ‘Cat/Person’ for television
UK-based Saffron Cherry Productions has acquired the rights to Chris Heath’s audio sitcom Cat/Person for television.
The original audio series is created and produced by Heath, who also stars as Matthew, a man struggling to stay positive after an unhappy divorce.
After a trip to the animal shelter for an emotional support pet, he unfortunately chooses Hobson, a rescue cat, played by Sue Vincent. Matthew is sentimental, messy and lonely. Hobson is hungry and insistent. Each episode reveals a selection of conversations between human and cat, as Matthew tries his best to navigate his new life as a near shut-in, with Hobson conveniently on-hand to point out just how badly he’s doing at this.
Manchester-based Saffron Cherry Productions is led by MD Caroline Roberts-Cherry, with writer, producer and actor Sally Lindsay as creative director. The firm is behind titles including The Madame Blanc Mysteries, which has a third season in production for Channel 5 & Acorn and The World According To Grandpa for Milkshake!.
“Chris has a brilliant ability to make his audience laugh and Cat/Person is the latest creation he has brought to Saffron Cherry Productions. We love working with both Chris and Sue, and so this really is the Cat’s Whiskers,” said Roberts-Cherry.
