Former Showtime scripted chief Amy Israel to head TV at Peter Chernin’s North Road

Former Showtime scripted chief Amy Israel has joined Peter Chernin’s US-based studio The North Road Company as president of television.

Israel exited Paramount-owned Showtime a month ago, following its merging into Chris McCarthy’s MTV Entertainment Studios, with her new move reuniting her with former boss David Nevins, who was appointed as North Road CEO in July.

Reporting to Nevins, Israel will oversee scripted television development and production across the North Road portfolio, including Turkey’s Karga Seven Pictures, which was recently acquired by the company, and Peyton Manning’s Omaha Productions, in which it took a minority stake earlier this year.

Israel spent 12 years at Showtime, during which time she worked on shows such as Yellowjackets, Masters Of Sex and The Affair. Before she joined the company in 2011, she served as EVP of production at New Regency.

Prior to that, she was the head of production and acquisitions for Paramount Vantage and co-head of acquisitions and co-production at Miramax. She has also served as a producer on features including In Time, Griffin & Phoenix and Shall We Dance.

Peter Chernin launched The North Road Company in July 2022, with backing from US private equity firms Providence Equity Partners and Apollo, with its first move being the $200m acquisition of Red Arrow Studios’ North American production firms.

Alongside its scripted labels, The North Road Company also houses Love Is Blind and Married At First Sight prodco Kinetic Content, as well as 44 Blue Productions, which was behind A&E’s Wahlburgers and Fox’s First Responders Live. It is also home to Half Yard Productions, which produces Say Yes To The Dress for TLC, Dorsey Pictures and Left/Right, whose output includes FX and Hulu doc, Framing Britney Spears.
