Irish crime drama ‘Kin’ lands on UK’s BBC
Irish crime drama Kin has been picked up by the UK’s BBC.
The eight-part series was produced for Ireland’s RTÉ by BRON Studios, which filed for bankruptcy earlier this year, alongside Headline Pictures (The Man In The High Castle), with Fifth Season distributing. The series is written and created by Peter McKenna (The Last Kingdom).
It explores what happens when a boy related to a local crime family is killed, sparking a war that is impossible to win against a global cartel. Clare Dunne, Charlie Cox and Aidan Gillen star.
Sue Deeks, head of BBC programme acquisition, said the show offered “a powerful and intense story of love, grief, family and crime, and its devastating ramifications.”
