Thailand’s TrueID & Juvenile Co to adapt Nippon thriller ‘Homeroom’

Homeroom

Thai streamer TrueID is partnering with local prodco Juvenile Co on an adaptation of Nippon TV drama series Homeroom.

The series is scheduled to debut on TrueID in late 2024, and is the third Nippon TV scripted format that Juvenile Co has acquired the rights to, following Mother and Abandoned.

Set ten days before a high school graduation, the series starts as a teacher takes his 29 students hostage, uncovering the truth behind a classmate’s unexplained suicide. In a sudden turn of events, the teacher-student dynamic becomes a criminal-hostage situation.

As they confront the past they’d ignored, the students are driven to discover why their classmate took their own life and why the teacher chose such a dramatic method for their final class.

Homeroom has previously been adapted in Turkey in 2020, with this marking its second international remake.

“This impactful series opened many doors for the Japanese actors and creators, and I firmly believe it will do the same in Thailand, and globally as well,” said Moe Kanzaki, sales and licensing of scripted formats, global business, at Nippon TV.
