RTL Germany welcomes Videoland drama ‘Maxima’ following Beta Film deal

RTL Germany has picked up rights to Maxima, which follows the life of Argentina-born Maxima Zorreguieta who later became Queen Maxima of the Netherlands.

The six-hour show has just wrapped shooting and is being produced by Millstreet Films. It was commissioned by RTL Netherlands’ OTT service Videoland.

The series, which is sold by Beta Film, has been shot in New York, Spain, the Netherlands and Belgium over the course of the summer, and is set in 1999.

Saskia Diesing directs together with Joosje Duk and Iván López Núñez, with Marnie Blok writing and Ilse Ott, Rachel van Bommel producing for Millstreet Films.

Maxima is based on the book Máxima Zorreguieta: Motherland by Marcia Luyten, which was published by De Bezige Bij in the Netherlands. An Argentinian edition was published by Planeta.
