Buccaneer lands BBC Studios alum as creative director in Scotland
Marcello prodco Buccaneer has hired Neil Duncan as creative director of its Scotland-based division.
Duncan joins from The Lighthouse, where he has been head of development since 2020, overseeing the company’s slate of projects including upcoming Netflix feature Scoop.
Prior to that, Duncan held a similar role at BBC Studios Drama London, having begun his career at the BBC as a script editor on EastEnders.
Buccaneer Scotland was co-founded by Buccaneer co CEOs Tony Wood, Richard Tulk-Hart and actor Dougray Scott and aims to showcase Scottish literary, acting and behind-the-camera talent.
The slate includes a 6 x 60-minute adaptation of Irvine Welsh’s The Blade Artist and struck a partnership with author Jenni Fagan that will see her adapting her novels The Panopticon and Luckenbooth for TV.
London-based Buccanner is behind Irvine Welsh’s Crime for Britbox and ITVX, as well as The Burning Girls and The Doll Factory for Paramount+.
