A+E takes Spouse On Strike
A+E Networks has acquired international distribution rights to Spouse On Strike (aka Wife On Strike).
The factual entertainment format is from Proper Content and is beign produced for Paramount’s Channel 5 in the UK.
It explores modern domestic life, with A+E selling the completed six-episode series and format rights worldwide.
Global Agency takes Japanese cookery show global
Turkish distributor Global Agency has picked up sales rights to Japanese show Uprising Kitchen, from Yomiuri Telecasting Corp.
The format sees a professional chef, a spouse and a novice cook competing to produce the best dish, with the experienced cooks facing unique challenges to even out the contest.
The amateur cook is given a large amount of money to spend on ingredients, the spouse receives a moderate sum and the pro gets just a small amount.
Izzet Pinto, CEO of Global Agency, said the format “appeals to the whole family with strong co-viewing.”
Banijay welcomes Charlie and Lola
Banijay Kids & Family is to start selling preschool animation series Charlie And Lola.
The show, from Banijay-owned Tiger Aspect Kids & Family, combines 2D cut-out style animation and photomontage with a children’s voice cast.
It is based on the picture book series by Lauren Child and runs to three seasons, totalling 78 x 11-minute and 2 x 22-minute episodes, having first launched on CBeebies in 2005.
