A+E Factual Studios hires Netflix alum Jhamal Robinson to head production
A+E Factual Studios has appointed Netflix and Discovery alum Jhamal Robinson to the newly created role of EVP, head of production.
Robinson joins the company, which is part of US-based A+E Networks, to oversee all its productions through its labels Category 6 Media and Six West Media.
Based in Los Angeles and reporting to A+E Factual Studios president Sharon Scott, Robinson will be tasked with streamlining workflows from development through to delivery, as well as managing production budgets and fulfilling the company’s DE&I targets.
Robinson previously served as VP of physical production at Netflix, from January 2021 to August 2022. where he oversaw production management and physical production for original content in the US and Canada.
Prior to that, he was SVP of production management at Discovery, a role that he took up in 2016 and which saw him work across the factual giant’s shows for its networks including HGTV, TLC and flagship Discovery Channel.
Launching in 2018, A+E Factual Studios produces unscripted content via its two labels, Category 6 Media and Six West Media, including titles such as Cold Case Files for A&E and The Proof Is Out There for History Channel.
