Disney Branded TV hires Netflix & Nickelodeon alum Jenna Boyd to head scripted development
Disney Branded Television has hired former Nickelodeon and Netflix exec Jenna Boyd as SVP of development.
Reporting to Charlie Andrews, Disney Branded Television’s EVP of live-action and unscripted, Boyd will be responsible for the scripted series development team.
She will creatively supervise the production of scripted series pilots for Disney+ and Disney Channel, with a focus on building out the division’s multicam strategy, as well as global Disney+ tentpole shows.
Boyd joins from her own production company, Field Day Entertainment, which she launched in 2020 in partnership with production and management firm The Cartel – where she also served as a manager. Field Day Entertainment was focused on creating kids and family content for streaming platforms.
Boyd spent nearly two decades at Nickelodeon, where she worked on shows including The Loud House and Avatar: The Last Airbender. She also led kids and family original series at Netflix, overseeing a slate of more than 30 original series including teen comedy Alexa & Katie and The Babysitters Club adaptation, as well as animations such as the adaptation of New York Times bestseller Last Kids On Earth and Maya And The Three from filmmaker Jorge Gutierrez.
Andrews said that Boyd’s “extensive expertise creating breakout series will be instrumental in identifying and creating big, immersive worlds, as well as new series filled with the comedy, music and Disney magic our audiences love.” .
