StudioCanal appoints Tall Story’s Patrick Schweitzer as CEO of ‘It’s A Sin’ label Red
StudioCanal has appointed Tall Story Pictures’ Patrick Schweitzer as CEO of Red Production Company, the UK prodco behind It’s A Sin and the upcoming Anansi Boys.
Schweitzer takes over the role vacated by Sarah Doole last year, with the company having been managed by a ‘transition’ team, supported by Françoise Guyonnet, StudioCanal’s executive managing director for TV series and Alex Hamilton, the UK CEO, in the interim.
He joins following a five-year stint at ITV Studios label Tall Story Pictures, serving as an executive producer on ITV’S Grace, Redemption and the second series of Bancroft and The Bay. Prior to this, he was producer in development on Sky’s Gangs Of London, and has also served as a producer on Sky’s Save Me, the BBC’s SSGB, The Interceptor, Doctor Who and the final season of ITV’s Whitechapel.
Schweitzer has also been involved in launching numerous returning TV series, including Ashes To Ashes, Spooks, Hustle, The Hour, Blackpool and Call The Midwife, as well as the feature film Les Misérables.
Red is currently working on Neil Gaiman’s Anansi Boys in co-production with Endor Productions for delivery to Prime Video in 2024. Its most recent series include It’s A Sin for Channel 4, Years And Years for BBC One, No Return for ITV and Harlan Coben’s Stay Close for Netflix.
Schweitzer said that his ambition as CEO is “to build on this amazing legacy of shows and the company’s tradition as a home to outstanding creative talent.”
Anna Marsh, CEO of StudioCanal and Deputy CEO of Canal+ Group, added: “Patrick will be an incredible asset to Red. He already has an extraordinary portfolio of drama to his name and an innate ability to create programming that is relatable to every kind of audience.
