Netflix expands Italian slate with ‘Adorazione’ & ‘Fabbricante Di Lacrime’ adaptations

Netflix has unveiled four new Italian originals, including a young adult series loosely based on the novel Adorazione.

The two new series and two feature films were unveiled at Netflix’s See What’s Next event this week, with Picomedia producing the six-part adaptation of Alice Urciuolo’s novel Adorazione.

The story follows a group of teenage girls and boys during one summer that will change their lives forever. Noemi Magagnini, Alice Lupparelli and Beatrice Puccilli are among the cast. Stefano Mordini is the director, while Donatella Diamanti, Giovanni Galassi, Tommaso Matano, Francesca Tozzi and Gianluca Gloria are writing the series.

The other new series is Storia Della Mia Famiglia, which tells the story of a man named Fausto and the last day of his life. Claudio Cupellini directs, while Eduardo Scarpetta, Vanessa Scalera, Massimiliano Caiazzo and Cristiana Dell’Anna star.

Netflix has also commissioned two feature films, Il Treno Dei Bambini, a journey through the misery and generosity witnessed in postwar Italy, as seen through the eyes of a child, and Fabbricante Di Lacrime, inspired by the novel of the same name by Erin Doom.

“We remain committed to our investment in Italy and Italian stories with conviction, continuing our long-term commitment to the country and its creative community” said Tinny Andreatta, VP of Italian content at Netflix.
