TBI reveals Content Innovation Awards 2023 shortlist, with record-breaking number of submissions
Television Business International (TBI) has unveiled the shortlist for the Content Innovation Awards 2023 (CIA’s), following a record-breaking number of submissions for this year’s event at MIPCOM.
Rogue Heroes, Bosé, The Mole and Love Triangle are among more than 100 shows making the shortlist for this year’s CIA’s, which is taking place on Wednesday 18 October at MIPCOM in Cannes as part of an expanded format for the fast-growing awards event.
Kudos series Rogue Heroes joins Clapperboard Studios’ Maxine, Helium’s Last King Of The Cross, The Apartment’s Exterior Night and Capa Drama’s Marie Antoinette in vying for the newly launched Best New Scripted Series Based on a True Story prize, while Bosé and Indian drama Rana Naidu are among shows competing for the Best New Scripted Series Non-English Language award.
Eureka Productions remake of The Mole has made the cut in the Competition Show of the Year award, while hit Australian series Love Triangle has been selected in the Entertainment Format of the Year shortlist.
This year’s CIA’s will honour shows across genres including scripted, factual, entertainment, formats, kids and more, as well as new awards for FAST channels and individual prizes.
The event is set to be the biggest in its nine-year history, with more shows submitted than ever before for 2023 and a new partnership with MIPCOM Cannes.
As part of that agreement, the CIA’s will be open to all delegates at MIPCOM CANNES and – for the first time – will be staged in the Grand Auditorium of the Palais des Festivals.
Pre-ceremony drinks will commence from 5.30pm, the hour-long ceremony begins at 6.30pm, and will be followed by a celebratory cocktail reception for all nominees and delegates set against the Cannes backdrop in the Auditorium’s glass fronted lobby.

The CIA’s were launched in 2015 and are returning to Cannes for 2023, with the event having been staged in previous years as a pre-market dinner for nominees on the Croisette.
Since the pandemic, the CIA’s have been held in London, where Crime, Once Upon A Time In Londongrad and The Masked Singer were among the winners.
