Television Business International (TBI) has struck a partnership with MIPCOM CANNES that will see the Content Innovation Awards 2023 (CIA’s) returning to France as part of an expanded format for the fast-growing awards event.

As part of the agreement, this year’s CIA’s will take place in Cannes on Wednesday, 18 October, and will be open to all delegates at MIPCOM CANNES.

For the first time, the CIAs will be staged in the Grand Auditorium of the world-renowned Palais des Festivals and is being produced in partnership with MIPCOM CANNES.

Pre-ceremony drinks will commence from 5.30pm, the hour-long ceremony begins at 6.30pm, and will be followed by a celebratory cocktail reception for all nominees and delegates set against the Cannes backdrop in the Auditorium’s glass fronted lobby. For more info, click here.

Now into its ninth edition, the CIAs honour companies, individuals and content at the forefront of innovation within the global television industry and celebrates those making significant contributions transforming the medium of television. They were launched by Informa-owned TBI in 2015.

“Television’s ability to innovate is relentless and inspiring,” said Lucy Smith, Director of MIPCOM CANNES and MIPJUNIOR. “We’re delighted to partner with Informa and TBI to continue to celebrate the companies and individuals who epitomise this globally. What could be more galvanising on the final evening of the industry’s biggest annual international market than coming together to toast such ingenuity as a global community.”

Richard Middleton, Editor at TBI, said: “The Content Innovation Awards are a unique event that recognise the best shows and teams working in the global TV industry. We couldn’t be happier to be working with MIPCOM CANNES on taking the Awards to a new level at the biggest market of them all.”

Stephenie Hawkins, Event Director, Media & Entertainment Informa Tech said: “We are excited to partner with MIPCOM and bring the CIAs back to Cannes to celebrate the ending of 2023’s MIPCOM Cannes. Our team is preparing an exciting program to bring our industry together to applaud our finest.”

The partnership marks a return to the city of Cannes for the CIAs, the event having been staged in previous years as a pre-market dinner for nominees on the Croisette, and last year held in London, where Crime, Once Upon A Time In Londongrad and The Masked Singer were among the winners. Over 11,000 delegates from over 100 countries are expected in Cannes for the 39th International Co-Production & Entertainment Content Market and MIPJUNIOR, which returns to the JW Marriott on the weekend preceding with a pre-market opening on Friday afternoon (13-15 October).
