A+E orders Deborah Chong murder docuseries from Transistor Films for Crime & Investigation
A+E Networks EMEA has ordered a two-part docuseries exploring a brutal murder in the UK to Transistor Films, the prodco behind Netflix’s I Am A Killer and I Am A Stalker.
Body In The Suitcase: The Murder Of Deborah Chong (2 x 60-minutes) is a co-production between Transistor, A+E and Krempelwood and is due to premiere in September on Crime+Investigation.
The show will explore the circumstances surrounding the disturbing case of Mee Kuen Chong, also known as Deborah Chong, who was murdered and decapitated by a former friend in June 2021.
The series offers access to family, investigators and forensic experts, aiming to unpick the complex motives and circumstances behind an unlikely friendship between two devout Christians that ended in a brutal murder. The mother of the woman convicted of the murder is among interviewees.
Dan Korn, VP of programming at A+E Networks EMEA, said: “This 2×60 special will shock and mystify by turns as we delve into the unbelievable events surrounding Deborah Chong’s last moments. Examining as much first-hand testimony and evidence as possible the documentary aims to explore the relationship of Deborah and Jemma and ultimately what led to this most brutal of murders.”
Danny Tipping, MD at Transistor Films, added that the show “promises to deliver a comprehensive exploration” of events leading up to Chong’s murder with “exhaustive research and incredible access”.
The two-part special was commissioned and executive produced by Korn, with Diana Carter, commissioning editor & head of talent at A+E Networks EMEA.
