ITVX Kids to carry dedicated Lego FAST channel
UK streamer ITVX is launching two kids-focused FAST channels, with one dedicated entirely to Lego, as part of its upcoming ITVX Kids service.
Speaking at the Children’s Media Conference in Sheffield, ITV’s film & kids acquisitions manager, Darren Nartey, shared fresh details about ITVX Kids, the new streaming offering for nascent AVOD service ITVX that will ultimately replace the existing CITV.
This offering will include two FAST channels, ITVX Kids, which will feature a range of children’s shows that are also available on-demand on the service, such as Hotel Transylvania, Pocoyo, Tara Duncan and Bob The Builder.
The Lego Universe FAST channel will meanwhile feature titles such as Lego Marvel Superheroes, Lego Ninjago, Lego Dreamzzz and Lego Jurassic World.
Nartey also revealed that ITVX currently has no plans to carry third-party FAST channels.
Rolling out later this month with a dedicated curated kids home page on the ITVX streamer, ITVX Kids will launch with more than 1,000 hours content aimed at both pre-school and 6-12-year-old age groups, with weekly releases of new content and including titles such as The Gamers 2037, Game On, Friendspace and Interstellar Ella.
Nartey revealed that ambitions for ITVX Kids had grown due to high engagement with the streamer by young audiences and the acquisitions team had been tasked with finding 600 hours of content to fill the service ahead of Kidscreen, with the team and its remit also expanded accordingly.
The exec added that “the shackles are off” when it comes to acquiring content for ITVX Kids, with plans to appeal to a wider demographic compared to the “boy-skewed” and “comedy-driven” linear kids offering CITV, which is to continue as a programming block on ITV2.
