Netflix picks up Nippon TV rom-com ‘Turn To Me Mukai-kun’ for same-day streaming

Turn To Me Mukai-kun

Netflix has acquired upcoming romantic comedy-drama series Turn To Me Mukai-kun from Japan’s Nippon TV for same-day streaming.

The series will land on Netflix Japan on Wednesday, 12 July, immediately after its debut on Nippon TV, with global streaming of the series to follow across Netflix. Hulu Japan will also stream the series immediately after Nippon TV’s broadcast.

Based on the manga by Yoko Nemu, and starring Eiji Akaso in the leading role, the show follows the tumultuous dating journey of a 33-year-old man whose life seems perfect in every aspect except one – the absence of true love.

With his striking looks, charming personality, and successful career, he seemingly has it all, yet he continually falls short when it comes to matters of the heart. Thankfully, fate intervenes as he unexpectedly reignites a flame with an unforgettable ex.

Keisuke Miyata, head of sales, global business, Nippon TV said:  “It is the first time that our primetime series will stream on Netflix in Japan immediately after Nippon TV’s prime time air slot, with global streaming to follow, marking a groundbreaking moment. With the talented Eiji Akaso starring as the lead in this rom-com series, I am confident that viewers worldwide will fall in love with this captivating romance drama.”

Rie Sawaoka, director of content, Netflix Japan, added: “We are delighted to continue our partnership with Nippon TV and bring this delightful series, “Turn To Me Mukai-kun”, to Netflix members everywhere. With weekly episodes available in Japan directly after airing on Nippon TV, and 190 countries to follow, we hope our members will enjoy the journey to find true romance with Mukai-kun.”
