Paramount’s C5 orders BriteSpark East series exploring UK counties Norfolk & Suffolk
Paramount-owned Channel 5 (C5) has commissioned a six-part series exploring the UK counties of Norfolk and Suffolk, with Bill Nighy attached to narrate.
Norfolk & Suffolk is being produced by Argonon-owned BriteSpark East and will aim to capture the people, the stories and the landscape of England’s most Eastern counties, known as the breadbasket of Britain. Abacus Media Rights is handling global rights.
Kate Ansell, C5 and Paramount+ commissioning editor, said: “Exploring these beautiful counties through the people who know them best, locals with fascinating stories to tell, the series sets to uncover the hidden treasures found across the length and breadth of this south-eastern part of the UK.”
Tom Porter, former C4 commissioning exec and current BriteSpark East MD, added: “This entertaining and escapist series charts everyday life in one of the UK’s most under-explored counties, meeting a diverse range of local characters, uncovering the region’s secrets and discovering the county’s ancient landmarks and hidden gems.”
The series is the latest commission for BriteSpark, following Motorway Hotel and Scams: Don’t Get Caught Out, both for C5. It also follows recent docuseries Billionaires Who Made The World and the upcoming The World’s Most Expensive Trainers, both for C4.
BriteSpark was co-founded in 2013 by creative director Nick Godwin in partnership with Argonon, which fully acquired the indie in 2018. Porter joined in 2019 as director of programmes.
