BBC Earth & BBC First to launch in Taiwan following Line TV deal

BBC Studios and Taiwanese streaming service Line TV have struck a partnership to bring channel brands BBC Earth and BBC First on to the OTT platform.

Natural history and science documentary brand, BBC Earth, includes titles such as Frozen Planet, Planet Earth, Blue Planet and other nature documentaries.

BBC First, meanwhile, is home to British dramas such as Sherlock, Luther, Maigret and Call The Midwife.

“This is the first time that BBC Studios has cooperated with Line TV to bring two of our brands, the natural history and science documentary portfolio of BBC Earth and the British drama catalogue of BBC First, to Taiwan. It also represents the growing audience of our content in Taiwan,” said Ding Ke, SVP and GM of BBC Studios Greater China.

Line TV has five million monthly active users and more than 10,000 hours of licensed content including Taiwan drama, Chinese drama, animation, Korean drama and original dramas.
