SkyShowtime sets rescued HBO Max drama ‘Warszawianka’ as first Polish original

Warszawianka

SkyShowtime has set a June debut for Warszawianka (aka Still Here), the one-time HBO Max drama that will now launch as the European streamer’s first Polish original series.

Originally commissioned by HBO Europe in 2020, the series was among the package of 21 former HBO Max European originals acquired by SkyShowtime in January.

Warszawianka, which follows the tragicomic adventures of a 40-year-old ‘urban legend’ in Warsaw, was one of three unaired shows picked up by the recently launched European streamer in the package deal.

Made with support from the Polish Film Institute and the country’s Ministry of Culture and National Heritage, the 11 x 40-minute drama is written by Jakub Żulczyk (Blinded By The Lights), directed by Jacek Borcuch (Dolce Fine Giornata) and stars Borys Szyc (Snow White And Russian Red) in the leading role.

“As a streaming service created specifically for Europe, SkyShowtime is committed to authentic storytelling that entertains and moves audiences across our markets. We are excited to bring Warszawianka — our first Polish original series —to audiences this June,” said SkyShowtime CEO Monty Sarhan.
