Warner Bros. Discovery Lat Am/US Hispanic veteran to depart after 20 years

Marcelo Tamburri

Marcelo Tamburri, Warner Bros. Discovery’s (WBD) VP of scripted content development for Latin America & US Hispanic, is to exit the company at the end of March, after almost 20 years.

The exec now plans to embark on new development and production projects.

During his near two-decades with the company, Tamburro headed up the creation and development of scripted original series for HBO Max in Latin America, as well as the pay-TV brands.

Prior to that, he served as general manager of the Space, Warner Channel, I.SAT, truTV and TCM brands, and was responsible for developing channel strategy in the region, including local productions, content selection and programming.

Tamburri commented: “I feel so much gratitude and love for what I’ve always done and for the incredible opportunities that have allowed me to unleash this job that I deeply and passionately love, from building and integrating multicultural teams, to the tremendous opportunity to work alongside the best Spanish and Portuguese-speaking scriptwriters.

“I take a lot of learning, professional and personal growth, from the hand of various professionals and incredible human beings that I respect and admire.”

Tamburri’s exit follows senior WBD departures in Europe in recent days, with HBO Max EMEA content chief Antony Root also set to exit the media giant at the end of March, while Steve Matthews, VP, executive producer, scripted, for HBO Europe is headed to Banijay in the newly created role of content partnerships executive.
