Omens Studios preps multiverse projects with VR, NFT & Roblox experiences
Animation company Omens Studios has unveiled two virtual reality projects spun off from existing shows, with NFT’s being produced to allow viewers to gain special benefits.
The projects are part of the company’s ‘Omens Multiverse’ initiative, which was launched 12 December and allows viewers to acquire NFT’s that can then be used to claim benefits as well as in-world items in the VR experiences.
Two existing IP’s – Circle Line and Oasis – are being turned into VR experiences, each with their own NFT collections set to become available.
Circle Line is based on Taipan Film’s movie of the same name and will see a VR experience being released in Q4 2023 via VR stores. NFT holders will be entitled to benefits including movie tickets, access to exclusive members-only content, promotional codes for merchandise and whitelist spots for priority NFT access in other Omens Multiverse projects.
Also currently in development is Oasis, based on Omens Studios’ first animated short film of the same name. This project will involve a new series of interactive VR stories where the audience can play the role of a space miner. Its NFT collection is scheduled to be released in Q2 2023, with the VR experience launching Q4 2023.
Omens Studios is also developing Roblox experiences for its preschool series Leo The Wildlife Ranger, which will be released in Q2 2023.
Chi Sim Tang, CEO of Omens Studios, said: “All three projects we have in development felt like a natural fit for digital extensions with their themes of adventure and the ability to transport audiences to new places or even worlds.”
Production groups and rights holders have been experimenting with NFT’s over recent years, with companies such as Banijay, Beta Film and Fox testing out opportunities.
