Further Amazon exits on cards as comedy execs reportedly eye new prodco

The Marvelous Mrs Maisel

Amazon Studios comedy execs Ryan Andolina and Amanda Greenblatt are reportedly looking to exit their roles, following the recent executive restructure.

Andolina was upped to head of comedy and drama development in (the also recently promoted) Nick Pepper’s US SVOD TV development and series –wholly owned – team, last month.

According to US trade Deadline, he is in talks to exit The Marvelous Mrs Maisel and Upload studio, alongside Greenblatt, head of first-look and overall deals on the comedy team, to start their own production firm with a deal at Amazon.

Fellow comedy exec Punit Mattoo, a member of Andolina’s former team, is meanwhile also reported to be discussing a move to London to head up the UK office under Rola Bauer, who was recently appointed as the head of pan-English scripted SVOD TV, development & series, to oversee the development and production of English language originals for Prime Video.

Last month, Amazon Studios restructured its US & global TV creative development team under head of TV Vernon Sanders, to create “specialised pipelines” of original content for SVOD, AVOD and FAST, following soon after the departure of head of global development Marc Resteghini.

The executive rejig saw Andolina promoted into his current role, with several other execs such as Laura Lancaster, head of US SVOD TV development and series – co-productions, also taking on new remits.

Other recent high profile moves at Amazon have seen veteran exec Jeff Blackburn, who is currently the retailer’s SVP of global media & entertainment, set a January retirement date, while earlier this month Christoph Schneider was appointed to oversee operations for the Prime Video service in Germany and Austria.
