Ex-Amazon & Fox exec Sharon Tal Yguado launches gaming company
Former Amazon Studios and Fox Networks Group exec Sharon Tal Yguado has launched gaming company Astrid Entertainment.
The company is currently developing a multiplayer title and is focused on developing fantastical worlds for gamers to experience, after securing a seven-figure pre-seed investment from backers including NetEase Games, Stardom and Tower 26.
Tal Yguado previously served as head of genre drama at Amazon Studios, before stepping down in 2019. During her time there, she was lead executive on The Lord of the Rings: The Rings Of Power, and also worked on The Boys, The Wheel Of Time and Tales From the Loop.
She also took lead on securing overall deals with The Walking Dead comic co-creator Robert Kirkman and Stranger Things writer Justin Doble.
During her 13 years at Fox, Tal Yguado oversaw the company’s global content strategy and was responsible for projects including AMC’s The Walking Dead and FX’s Legion.
“I love developing rich worlds and watching millions of people engage and build communities around them,” said Tal Yguado. “We are seeing a new generation that wants something different. They enjoy walking into evocative worlds that give them freedom, let them hang out with their friends, explore, discover and create their own stories.”
