Former Studiocanal exec named CEO of Legendary Entertainment & Tobis joint-venture

Isabel Hund, the German producer and former Studiocanal exec, has been appointed as CEO of newly formed joint venture between US studio Legendary Entertainment and German producer-distributor Tobis.

Hund the as-yet-unnamed Munich-based company, which was first announced in July and is focused on developing, producing and distributing German-language scripted series and miniseries.

Tobis is to take operational lead of the JV in Munich, while Legendary is to look after distribution outside of Germany of all content created by the new firm – though no projects have yet been announced.

At Studiocanal. Hund built and ran a local production team, overseeing a slate of mainstream and arthouse hits, producing Heidi and The Little Witch. Prior to that, she was directed of production for Columbia Pictures Germany.

“We are very happy to welcome Isabel as head of our growing television business,” said Tobis principals Timm Oberwelland and Theo Gringel.

“She brings with her a wide range of experiences, an excellent network and reputation, as well as a proven instinct for high-quality content. Together, we are excited to launch German-language high-end series that can succeed in Germany and around the world.”

Better known as a film distributor, Tobis has recently been moving into TV, including the co-production of 2020 series Sløborn, with ZDF Neo.

Legendary, meanwhile, is behind international series such as Spanish-language series You Would Do It Too for Disney+ and earlier this year struck a $760m deal that saw former Endemol Shine Group owner Apollo take a minority stake in the company,
