Disney+ strikes ‘Ralph & Katie’ & ‘The A Word’ deal across Europe
Disney+ has picked up BBC One drama Ralph & Katie across Europe, as part of a wider distribution deal with Keshet International.
The 6 x 30-minute comedy-drama is a spin-off from The A Word and has been coproduced by ITV Studios and Keshet UK in association with Tiger Aspect.
It follows the titular couple during their first year of marriage, as they take on the challenges faced by all newlyweds but with the added blessing or complication that they both have Down’s syndrome.
Disney+ has licensed multiple rights for both titles across all of Europe (excluding the UK), the Middle East and Africa.
The streamer has also picked up all three seasons of The A Word, which is produced by Fifty Fathoms/Tiger Aspect and Keshet UK. It is based on Israeli family drama Yellow Peppers, which was written and created by Keren Margalit for Keshet Broadcasting.
The A Word is available on Disney+ across the Nordics and Belgium, with staggered launches slated for Portugal, Italy, Spain and France from November and Germany, Austria and Switzerland following suit in the New Year. Ralph & Katie will debut in early 2023.
