Atresmedia picks up Fremantle’s ‘Password’ following US reboot

Atresmedia Televisión in Spain has picked up rights to Fremantle’s word-guessing gameshow, Password. 

The show will be produced locally by Fremantle Spain, with the remake following the format’s revival in the US by NBC earlier this summer.

The format follows celebrities as they team up with contestants and are give one word clues to help them guess each pre-defined password and win a cash prize. It is part of Fremantle’s entertainment slate at this year’s MIPCOM, which starts today.

Rob Clark, director of global entertainment at Fremantle, said: “This is a timeless, translatable format and Password’s long-running success around the world is testament to that. Atresmedia Televisión has a strong portfolio of successful formats in the Spanish market so Password will be a great addition to their catalogue.”
