Banijay’s Brainpool TV lands RTL Television’s comedy chief as co-MD
Banijay has landed RTL Television’s comedy chief Nico Rossman to lead its Germany production outfit Brainpool TV.
Rossman becomes co-MD at the Banijay Germany company and will be responsible for overseeing a new comedy unit within the label.
He joins the management team alongside Brainpool CEO, Marcus Wolter, and co-MD, Godehard Wolpers.
Rossmann developed and oversaw shows including Ninja Warrior Germany and Frei Schnauze at RTL, as well as the stage shows for comedians such as Carolin Kebekus, Sascha Grammel, Chris Tall and the Ehrlich Brothers.
Prior to that, he worked at Tresor TV and Norddeich TV.
Wolter said the appointment would ensure Brainpool is “ideally positioned to build on our comedy offerings, big shows, and relationship with artists.”
Brainpool TV was founded in 1994 and is behind shows including Beat The Star, Catch!, Ladykracker and the Free European Song Contest.
Banijay has been ramping up its operations in Germany of late, recently acquiring Sony Pictures Television (SPT) production assets in the the country.
