MIPCOM round-up: Banijay unveils key titles; Eccho acquires ‘Golden Boy’; Espresso moves into fact-ent

Banijay unveils key titles

Banijay has unveiled its key titles heading to MIPCOM this year, with formats Love Triangle, Blow Up, Le Plus Grand Karaoké de France and MasterChef: Young Talent making their Cannes debuts.

Love Triangle, from Endemol Shine Australia for Stan, is an unpredictable relationship journey, while Dutch format Blow Up from EndemolShine Nederlands for RTL4 sees talented balloon artists battle it out in a colourful and creative competition with high stakes.

French label DMLS TV’s Le Plus Grand Karaoké de France sees experts select the best singers from 1,000 mic’d up participants who are belting out songs, while MasterChef: Young Talent will equip a future generation of chefs with the best tools and experience.

Scripted titles on the slate meanwhile include Rogue Heroes, Marie Antoinette, Bali 2002, and Serial Lover, and third-party titles Stonehouse and Riches.

Golden Boy

Eccho acquires ‘Golden Boy’

Eccho Rights has acquired Turkish drama Golden Boy for distribution and will launch the series at MIPCOM this month.

Produced by OGM Pictures for Star TV, the family drama tells the story of two sisters whose paths cross with the heir to a family full of betrayal, lies and secrets.

“OGM Pictures continues to push the boundaries of television production in Turkey, and Golden Boy is another remarkable series, that fans are already in love with,” says Handan Özkubat, director of Turkish drama at Eccho RIghts.

Espresso moves into fact-ent

UK-based distributor Espresso Media International is launching a slate of 30+ hours of new content ahead of MIPCOM, with the company making its first move into factual entertainment.

New series include High Altitude Carpenters (6 x 44-minutes with a second season available for pre-sales). Premiering on Discovery Italy, the show follows a family business renovating historical properties in the Italian Dolomites.

Other titles being brought to market include true crime show Where Is Baby Gabriel? (2 x 52-minutes), feature doc A Crack In The Mountain (1 x 99-minute/1 x 52-minute) and Category: Woman (1 x 76-minute/1 x 58-minute) from winning director Phyllis Ellis.
