ITV Studios & UFA alum joins Bavaria Fiction for serial drama push

Bavaria Fiction has hired Jonas Baur from ITV Studios to work across the development and production of serial formats.

Baur becomes executive producer at Bavaria and starts 1 October, reporting to Marcus Ammon, MD of content, having most recently produced the TV movie Die Tänzerin Und Der Gangster for ProSiebenSat.1.

Prior to that, he worked at UFA Serial Drama for more than 20 years, executive producing Spotlight and Sterne für Berlin, as well as producing Verbotene Liebe.

Baur said: “The development and production of long-running series are among the most difficult and at the same time most fulfilling tasks in fictional storytelling.

“That hasn’t changed in the 25 years I’ve been doing this job. And it remains exciting, because new market participants and ever-changing conditions make us constantly rethink narrative and production methods and find new ways of working.”

Ammon added: “Jonas has a proven track record in the development and production of dailies and series – an area we will continue to expand.”

Last week, Bavaria revealed it was moving further into comedy after striking a pact with fellow German outfit Gerda Film.
